Once again I was reinstalling Windows XP on a HP Pavilion Athlon 64 machine and ended up with a BSOD after installing SP3. The ironic thing is that previous to installing SP3 I installed Microsoft's Pre-Sp3-No BSOD patch. Low and behold, it didn't work. I still had to manually rename the intelppm.sys file in Windows/System32/drivers to get the system to boot into Windows.
Oh Microsoft...what would I do without you
